About PM SHRI School
The PM SHRI School scheme is a centrally sponsored initiative of the Government of India aimed at developing over 14,500 schools managed by the Central Government, State or UT Governments, and local bodies, including Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS). These schools will provide safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environments, offer a broad spectrum of learning experiences, and ensure modern infrastructure and adequate resources for all students.
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the scheme will nurture students to become engaged, productive, and responsible citizens, fostering an equitable, inclusive, and plural society. Over 20 lakh students will directly benefit from the initiative. The scheme will also serve as a model for quality education, influencing policy, practice, and implementation across the nation.
Implementation will span five years (2022-23 to 2026-27), with best practices from PM SHRI Schools scaled up to other institutions nationwide.

PM SHRI stands for Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India. Announced on 5 September 2022, the initiative is designed to strengthen selected schools across India in line with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
These schools are being developed as model institutions that provide safe, inclusive, engaging, and modern learning environments. The larger vision is to create schools that demonstrate strong infrastructure, improved pedagogy, holistic student development, and better classroom experiences.
